News Release For Immediate Release: March 17, 2009 Contact Person: Kendra Todd, 301-334-7730 STEAM Group Makes Impact at After School Program
The STEAM group from Northern High School recently visited the Partners After School Program @ Accident Elementary School to encourage the participants in the program to make wise decisions when it comes to tobacco use. The STEAM members talked with after school participants about the effects of smoking and spit tobacco and also did experiments with them to demonstrate the effects of smoking on the lungs. Pictured above are Kaitlyn Beitzel, a STEAM member from Northern High, helping Caitlin Hummel and Miranda Nealis of the after school program design a tobacco prevention t-shirt. Other STEAM members that participated were Derrick Maust, Aubray West, Chelsie Beitzel, Kayley Green, Janessa Beitzel, and Abby Andres.
