News Release For Immediate Release: June 18, 2008 Contact Person: Diane Lee, Public Information Officer, 301-334-7730 GIG Holds Annual Fishing Rodeo
The Grantsville Involvement Group (GIG) recently held it's 2nd annual fishing rodeo on at the storm water pond at the Grantsville Park . Kids from ages 3-15 were able to fish on that day from 8:30-12:00 and prizes were given to participants who caught the largest and smallest fish. Pictured above on the left for the largest fish in the boy category is Dylan Thomas and in the girl category is Christa Lowery. They each who won a new fishing pole donated by Parkside Pizza & Grille run by Dave and Jodie Stein. Pictured on the right is Meredith Everly with her "smallest fish." Everyone received prizes of some sort. Several donations were made by different businesses and worms were donated by D&B Sport's shop of Deer Park. "We thank everyone for their hard work and all of the donations to help make these events happen in the community of Grantsville," said Sharon Menges, Grantsville Community Outreach Worker. "Anyone willing to volunteer their time to make more things happen please call me at the Health Department at 301-895-3111 extension 6528." Activities of GIG are supported in part by funds from the Garrett County Health Department to promote healthy living and prevent risky behaviors.
