We can! (Ways to Enhance Children's Activity and Nutrition)

We Can! (Ways to Enhance Children's Activity and Nutrition) is a national program designed for families and communities to help children maintain a healthy weight. The Garrett County Health Department is hosting a free 6-week We Can! program on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30 pm beginning April 1 st . We Can! will be held at the Friendsville Freedom Chapel on Bear Creek Road in Friendsville.

The 6-week program focuses on improving food choices, increasing physical activity and reducing screen time (TV and computer). This is a great program for parents or adults who are involved in the community with youth programs.

During the same time there will also be a program for children age 8-13 years. The Media-Smart Youth program is an engaging and exciting curriculum that helps youth make thoughtful decisions about issues important to their health, especially nutrition and physical activity.

If you and your children (8-13 years) are interested in participating in this free 6-week course contact Amy R. Ritchie, Registered Dietitian with the Garrett County Health Department at 301-334-7730 or 301-895-3111 by Friday, March 28th. It's time for Spring---why not spring into good health as a family.
