Death Certificate
Effective June 1, 2003, certified copies of death certificates filed in Garrett County may be obtained at the Health Department within 30 days of the event for a fee of $15 per copy. Certified copies of previous deaths can be obtained through the Division of Vital Records in Baltimore, Maryland, for a fee of $12 per copy.

Garrett County Health Department also provides certified copies of birth
certificates for persons born in Maryland from 1942 to present. Certificates
are available to the person named on the certificate, their parent or
guardian. The applicant must complete an application form, present a photo
ID, and pay the current fee of $15 per copy.
For persons born prior to 1942, certified copies of birth records may
be obtained from the Division of Vital Records in Baltimore, Maryland,
for a fee of $12 per copy.
