Studies about WIC show that WIC lowers Medicaid costs, contributes to longer gestation periods, higher birthweights and lower infant mortality. WIC promotes breastfeeding and offers support to families who so choose to breastfeed their babies.
WIC provides checks which participants exchange for nutritious foods including milk, cheese, juice, cereal, peanut butter or dried beans, eggs, infant formula, infant juice and cereal. WIC also provides:
