The Student Tobacco Elimination Among Minors (STEAM) groups are youth-driven tobacco prevention groups made up of high school students from Northern and Southern High Schools.
Pictured above in Annapolis with Delegate Wendell Beitzel are Tabitha Ringer (SHS) and Chelsie Custer (NHS). The students are members of the local STEAM (Student Tobacco Elimination Among Minors) groups. The three testified in February 2008 before the Maryland House Economic Matters Committee on a local bill to change tobacco sales to minors from a criminal to a civil penalty.
