The purpose of Operation Jumpstart is to alter the behavior or environment of groups in a way that will improve health outcomes. Health Department Outreach Workers will help jumpstart your group to reduce, eliminate or prevent behaviors that pose health risks and encourage healthy behaviors.
An Operation Jumpstart can last for as little as six weeks, or as long as one year. Some examples of positive changes an Outreach Worker can help facilitate for your group or organization are as follows:
- Seat belt and car seat checks
- Bike rodeo at company picnic
- Smoking cessation class on-site
- Worksite walking program
- TIPS training for servers or sellers of alcohol
- Healthy tips/messages for company newsletters
- Wellness screenings for employees
